On Saturday Bob and our friend Dick hitched Nickel and Tom, to Dicks sled.
In preparation for Sundays Winter fest , they were off to "break the trail".
"Breaking the Trail" is a phrase teamster's use in reference to opening a sled path that has not yet been used.
You can see Tom with his head up , in a bit of a hurry.
Nickel keeps a nice safe and steady pace, head down all buisness'
Tom has some settling in to do , he needs to learn that being a farm horse has a different pace, than being a pulling horse.
Breaking trails in deep snow can be hard work.
This is the team walking back to the farm, after parking Dicks sled at the club house.
