Photo Day

On Saturday Dave and Hollie came up from Ma. to take Hollies Sr. photo's. We were werried about the weather but it held out OK . Rained of and on but lots of photos were taken. Nickel and Mini were happy to pose and Huckleberry even got in on the act.

Early To Bed

Early to rise . The alarm clock sounded today at 4:10 am ,and it will again tomorrow. The guys are working in Ma. so Bob likes to be on the road early. Once you wake the critters you have to start getting everyone out and fed. This morning everyone was out before 6:30. I try not to put the hounds out before 6 so they do not wake the neighbor.

Pig in a blanket

I'm not sure this is what is meant by Pig in a blanket. We put a blanket in pigs house, to help take the chill off,and he loves it! Pig crawls under the blanket and sleeps covered, then crawls out in the morning.

Frost on the pumpkins

This morning when I got up (4:40am) there was frost on the pumpkins,and on my truck (33out side) In preparation of the change of seasons, Bob and I worked in the hay fields Friday night. The neighbor, cut to harvest, his hay last week. Friday , Bob and I purchased 150 bails for Nickel and helped to get the rest from the field to the barn. Today (Sunday we went apple picking (wow what a shock on the sticker price) We took home 18lbs for 20.00 and I did some more canning.

The neighborhood hay is being cut for harvest, it is beautiful. When I got home from work , the guys were harnessing Nickel so we could take a ride.

Scratching Post

Nickel is shedding his summer coat and getting his winter. He wants to be rubbed and scratched ,so today Daddy added some brushes to the run in. Nickel has not yet made use of them, we will see.

Out The Back Door

Now that the front door has a walk , the guys are off to the back door. A new walk is started.

Field Trip

Sunday was another rainy day.The dogs stayed dry in their new shelter.

Bob and I took a road trip to Kittery and on the way back we visited Stonewall Kitchen what an awesome kitchen store and amazing gardens.

Piglet

It was a nice sunny day for pig. The pig pen got cleaned and Boogie got 3 new balls to play with. Pig also bobbed for apples.

The Hounds have shelter

Well this sure re defines "sleeping in the dog house". We have lost 2 1/2 hrs of day light due to the sun set , but the dogs can stay out longer with the shelter. Yay. Today the green tin roof went on.

We are about to go into hunting season so we got orange vests to protect Mini, Nickel and Lance they get the most exercise, do not want anyone to mistake them for turkey.

Tomorrow will be crazy I have a cooking(crock pot only) contest at work and then we are taking part in a antique auto parade.

Berr Cold

Tonight it is supposed to get cold / about 30. Hard to believe when I got home from work it was beautiful. Bobby was on Nickel while I started dinner,then I took Nickel for a ride. The horses feel the cold air, Nickel was very spunky. After dinner we started a fire and picked 2 huge bags of tomatoes,don't want to loose them to frost.We covered the herbs with tarps, hope to bring inside this week end. Mini is tucked in his stall, and the dogs and cats are in. Pig and Nickel are still sleeping out side, Nickel loves being out.

Boogie

Today Bobby , headed out to Ma. He decided with the rain delay he would head home , see Keri and sleep in his own bed Pig is NOT happy.

Rain Rain Go away

Today Bob and Bobby set out to finish the dog world, however rain delayed progress.

The roof is prepped so maybe tomorrow,the tin will go on.

Lance seems to feel left out...

Tomato harvest

Last night before the rain Bob and I picked more tomatoes. We had an awesome tomato harvest. Today Bob watched the foot ball game while I canned salsa. After the game we harnessed Nickel and took him for a drive.

Lazy Sunday

Oh ya , when you are building a farm there is no such thing.

So we got up early as we do 7 days a week we tried to have our coffee then Nickel yelled so we did our "regular" chores. Then we cleaned the stall walls and put the tack room back together . The tack room got a little disheveled when the electrician came Friday to hook up the generator. The baby gate is so the barn cats can get away from the dogs.

New Kennels

Bob and Bobby are building new kennels. They have to be big enough to run and play and strong enough to withstand the weather.
