Shortest Day of The Year

It may have been the shortest day of the year, but we keep bizzy. After getting the boys out and the barn chores done we did some house keeping , cleaned up from our get together.we did some baking, watched football and then it was time to walk dogs and redo barn chores.

Big Boys Big Day

This morning the boys got turned out together in the big pasture. George came over and provided a much appreciated extra pair of hands.Bob leaded Nickel out to pasture first and George fallowed with Jake and I manned the gate and cameras.

Snow Day

Today is going to be a bizzy Saturday> I expect lots of photo's will follow in the next couple days.

First it did snow about a foot over night, so this morning is extra work. At noon we are going caroling, and tonight we are having friends over, about 16 people. When I was walking Beau at 7 we were accompanied by 2 Deer.

Time to start chores

We got the horses fed and the dogs walked and out early, then we went for a ride. I needed to pick up the Clubs News letter at Staples and then it was off to Andy's. Andy's was cold , without power,he added the shopping list up on scrap paper. The post office was also without power. We took some back roads, and checked out what the storm had done. We are very thankful for the generator. We had seen folks at the river filling buckets,with water. It would have been very tough to have all the animals and no heat or water for 32 hrs. The horse's never got out side , so much ice it is not safe. Every one did get out and groomed,even Mini.

Blanket of Ice

It looks pretty, but wow.

A blanket of Ice covered the area over night. Lots of trees down.

The neighborhood has been without power for 12 hours now. We are thankful to have the generator.

I worked and we were crazy bizzy with sales of storm stuff, batteries, flash lights, portable heat. More sales today then Black Friday. Bob tried to put the horses out to stretch , they did not approve. The falling branches and cracking ice sound like gun shots.

Snow Day

We got a little dusting of snow early. The Big Boys did not seem to mind a bit, it was not real cold.

Boogie was making sure the barn cats did not leave any kibble in the bag.

New Friends

OK for those of you who can not tell who's who. It's Nickel and pig 2x'then Nickel , Jake and Nick again. PS> there is a buffer fence between the 2 Belgians for now.

Nickel has certainly gotten use to the pig. Now he needs to get use to Jake. All the boys spent the full day outside today.

Breakfast with a new friend

We decided to split the practice ring int two small paddocks. This will give us two small separate area's to get two horse use to each other at one time , as Jake settles in. Yesterday Jake and Mini were out there.
